Paquito D'Rivera's Contradanza, is the sixth movement of a seven-movement suite originally written for woodwind quintet, called Aires Tropicales.The Contradanza is an example of Cuban music that evolved from European roots, adding Caribbean and Creole rhythms to create a uniquely Cuban art form. The arrangement for cello and piano is by the composer.
